Running a competition on your blog is a great way to create new interest and give something back to your readers.
Most readers aren’t necessarily looking to win a million dollars on a competition. Unique and interesting coffee mugs, t-shirts, books are all good prizes.
If you have a large blog you might be able to get sponsors to donate prizes in exchange for some free advertising.
